Catch problems before viewers do
Monitor every stage of your OTT delivery chain, from ingest through CDN, without switching tools.
What is OTT monitoring?
OTT monitoring is the continuous measurement of video and audio quality across every stage of a streaming delivery chain, from encoder and packager through CDN distribution to the viewer's device. It covers signal integrity, ABR stream health, manifest validation, latency, subtitles, and ad insertion accuracy. The delivery chain has gotten so much longer. More platforms, more variants, more handover points where something can quietly go wrong. Broadcasters and OTT operators use monitoring to catch errors before viewers do.
Warner Bros. Discovery: Visibility into live sources
“We’re often blind because of the way the OTT streaming architecture is built.” That’s Neal Roberts, Distinguished Engineer at Warner Bros. Discovery’s live platform. During March Madness, TAG caught malformed SCTE triggers in the source before they reached the transcoder. The team corrected them downstream in real time and kept their dynamic ad revenue intact.
The problem is somewhere in the chain. Let's find it.
Quality doesn't break at the obvious moments. It breaks at handover points, where one system hands off to another and nobody's watching the seam. TAG monitors every one of those points in a single platform, so when something goes wrong, you find it easily.

Whatever just broke, TAG has seen it before. With detection across 500+ event types, all stream layers, and all major formats, you set the threshold, TAG sends the alert. Your team fixes the problem before viewers know there was one. The end.
HLS, DASH, ST 2110, NDI, SRT: whatever’s in your workflow, TAG sees it. Compressed, uncompressed, live, file-based. No format requires a separate tool, no stream falls outside the picture.
A misfired ad trigger is a broken promise to an advertiser (and of course, money lost). Monitor SCTE 35 and 104 markers in real time to keep every insertion where it belongs.
Know that the right language is present, accurate, and on time before it becomes a compliance problem or a viewer complaint.
Every rung of the ladder, not just the top. TAG validates every variant, like DASH, HLS, CMAF, including manifest integrity and segment delivery across all CDN returns. If a 480p variant breaks at 3am, you’ll know before the viewer on that connection does.
Automate stream recording based on custom thresholds for optimal analysis and compliance. Capture pre- and post-event recordings along with all critical metadata: manifest, IP address, and more
Not every stream needs a dedicated screen. The Penalty Box surfaces only the signals in error, so your operators aren’t scanning a wall of green looking for the one thing that isn’t. Round robin handles the rest automatically.
TAG empowers you to stay ahead of the curve by running natively with your workflow, whether on-premises, in the cloud, or across both. Need to adapt? TAG shifts with your infrastructure

Full API customization & control
For live sports and event streaming, Content Matching measures latency frame-accurately between any two points in the workflow, identifying exactly where delay accumulates across encoding, packaging, and CDN hops
Leverage TAG’s adaptive monitoring modes – Full, Light, and X-Light – to intelligently optimize resource consumption without sacrificing performance. Continuously analyzes your content in every monitoirng mode, and automatically switch to full visualization only when an error occures.
Your workflow generates data at every point. TAG’s Elastic Data collects 500+ probing parameters across all monitored streams and surfaces them in the tools your team already uses: Grafana, Kibana, Elasticsearch, Splunk, and 70+ more. Your engineers get the visibility to make decisions fast, without switching platforms
Your operation has its own logic. TAG’s fully documented JSON API gives your team complete control over configuration, automation, and integration. The platform fits your workflow, not the other way around.

FAQ
OTT monitoring checks every layer of the delivery chain: signal integrity at ingest, transcoding quality, manifest validity, bitrate ladder completeness, CDN segment delivery, latency between delivery points, DRM decryption status, subtitle and caption presence, SCTE ad trigger accuracy, and audio levels. A complete monitoring setup catches errors at the point where they originate, not where a viewer first notices them.
ABR monitoring validates every variant in a streaming bitrate ladder: checking that all profiles are available, that segment delivery is consistent across CDN returns, and that the manifest accurately reflects what is being delivered. Without ABR monitoring, a single missing variant can degrade quality for viewers on specific devices or connection speeds.
